Cape Canaveral, Florida (Completed in 2016)
Precision Construction Services was hired as the Construction Manager for the bid management and evaluation of the buy-out of two cranes to be used at various Launch Complexes at Cape Canaveral, Florida. The project consisted of a technical analysis of the cranes being proposed for the work, the limits of their operability and a cost analysis of proposals structured in various pricing formats. The cranes’ operability had to be such that they could recover payloads from barges to dockside pedestals and from the dockside pedestals to ground transport vehicles.
The pricing for the cranes varied from relatively fixed annual costs to monthly, weekly, daily and even hourly costs. The crane companies also charged numerous, hard to grasp fees that included miscellaneous labor, mobilization, supplemental equipment, and the like. In order to help the client come to the correct conclusion for this multi-million-dollar crane buy-out, Precision organized the proposals of the (8) separate crane vendors into a comparable format. Once the information had been distilled into an easy-to-understand bid analysis, the client only had to determine how many times the cranes would be used in a given time period to select the best provider. As a result, Precision was able to make a confident recommendation for the winning crane vendor.
